OBITUARY
Arthur Lee McCuen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Aron McCuen died at the home of his parents, eight and half mile south of town, last Thursday morning, from what the doctors pronounced appendicitis. He complained Monday morning of feeling bad and gradually grew worse until Thursday morning when he passed away. The parents did not realize the danger he was in until the day of his death and on Thursday morning he told them 'the gate was open for him' and then they knew the angel of death was near. He was born April 5, 1885, and died February 18, 1904, making him 8 years, 8 month, and 17 days. He has always been a lovable child, friends with everybody and his place in the home that is now vacant can never be filled.

The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at house by Rev. Farrell, assisted by Rev. Bennett at the grave, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Manning Cemetery. Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to the grief stricken parents in this dark hour of sorrow.

John Sisson, of Adair, a brother of Mrs. McCuen; Mr. McCuen and Mrs. Pickrel, of Avoca father and sister of Mr. McCuen and Mrs. Rosie Fritz, of Pocahontas Center, a sister of Mrs. McCuen were in attendance at the funeral.

Arthur McCuen is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
