Arlene (Stribe) Wood

Arlene Wood, 87, of Moville, Iowa, died Wednesday, October 23, 2002, in Sykesville, Maryland.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Moville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Harold E. Werley officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith McCulloch Chapel in Moville.

Arlene was born April 2, 1915, in Manning, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Rose Stribe. She was raised in Manning and attended school there, graduating in 1933. She moved to Moville in the late 1930s. She received a degree in art from the University of Iowa.

She married Howard Wood. He preceded her in death. She was a school teacher and a librarian, teaching in Climbing Hill, Anthon, and Lawton, Iowa.

She was a member of Moville United Methodist Church. She was a member of Eastern Star and also assisted with 4-H in Moville.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara and her husband, George Morey of Sykesville, Maryland; a son, Henry Wood of Aloha, Oregon; a sister, Phyllis Hodne of Manning; and a granddaughter, Susan Morey of Sykesville.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Donna and Marcia Wood; a sister, Vera Budde; and a brother, Earl Stribe.

Memorials may be made in Arlene's name to Carroll Hospice Inc., Westminster, Maryland.
