Arlene S. Noack
Funeral services for Arlene Sophie Noack were held Saturday, April 27, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia, Iowa. Pastor Carl Noble officiated the service with Lisa McNelly as organist. Interment was held at the Westside Cemetery in Westside, Iowa.
Arlene Sophie, daughter of Henry and Celia (Bauer) Peters, was born September 23, 1919, on the family farm near Westside. She attended country school near her home and graduated from Westside High School in 1936. She then worked with her father in his cafe in Westside.
In 1939, Arlene was united in marriage with Walter Noack in Remsen, Iowa. One daughter, Mary Lou, was born to this union. Arlene and Walter lived in Westside. Arlene operated an income tax business and later owned and managed the Westside Lumber Yard. In the late 1960s, they moved to Brownsville, Texas and owned and operated Win Mobile Home Sales and Trailer Park.
Arlene enjoyed flowers, painting pictures, ceramics, and loved to visit. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Brownsville, as well as the American Legion Auxiliary in Westside and Brownsville, and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary in Brownsville. Arlene was also an active member of the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce.
In October of 1998, Arlene became a resident of Spanish Meadows Nursing Home in Brownsville. She died Wednesday, January 23, 2002, at Brownsville Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas. She was 82 years of age.
Arlene is survived by a daughter Mary Lou and her husband Theodore H. Kraus of Westside, three grandchildren Tim Kraus and wife Deb of Westside; Brian Kraus and wife Kathy of Arcadia; Tracey Reinking and husband Chet of Ireton; six great-grandchildren; two brothers Vernon Peters and wife Vi of Wall Lake and Ron Peters and wife Jeannette of Ames; one sister, Betty Nobiling and husband, Donald, of Westside; two sisters-in-law Georgene Peters of Harlan and Nadine Nichols and husband, William J., of Lake View; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
