Anna Marie, daughter of John B. and Mary (Sporrer) Knueven, was born June 22, 1923, on the family farm near Manning in Carroll County, Iowa. Ann attended Sacred Heart School in Templeton.

On January 21, 1946, Ann was united in marriage with Harold “Hap” Joseph Walsh at Sacred Heart Church in Templeton. Five children were born to this union. Ann and Hap farmed in the Bayard area until 1951. They then moved to a farm west of Templeton and farmed there until 1970, when they purchased a home and tavern in Templeton. Ann and her son Tom continued to operate “Hap’s Tavern” after Hap died on September 7, 1975. In 1991, Ann retired and enjoyed doing embroidery in her spare time. Ann was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Templeton and Ladies Guild.

On Monday, June 18, 2001, Ann died at her home in Templeton, Iowa, following a lengthy battle with cancer. She was 77 years, 11 months and 27 days of age.

Besides her parents and husband, Ann was preceded in death by a son Tom Walsh; a grandson Jeffrey Dean Lohrmann; two brothers Joseph Knueven and Louie Knueven; two sisters-in-law Delores Cox and Betty Walsh; and special friend Ed Foley and his wife Sally.

She is survived by four children: Jerry Walsh of Omaha, Nebraska; Judy and her husband Curt Lohrmann of Carroll; Mike Walsh and his wife Jean of Templeton; and Dave Walsh of Templeton; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; brother Frank Knueven and his wife Claudia of Manning; sister-in-law Marian Knueven of Manning; two brothers-in-law George Cox of Annandale, Virginia and Howard Walsh of Waukee; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
