Mrs. Mathilda Mordhorst - September 13, unknown year
Relatives here received word on Saturday morning of the
death of Mrs. George Mordhorst of Payette, Idaho. She had passed away on Friday
evening at 10 o'clock. She had not been in the best of health for the past few
years.
Mrs. Mordhorst was born Anna Mathilda Sievers, oldest
child of William and Anna Sievers on October 4, 1871, near Gladbrook, Iowa. She
came here with her parents in 1875 and grew to womanhood on a farm a mile east
of Arcadia. On October 12, 1892, she was united in marriage to George Mordhorst
and to this union eleven children were born, nine of which are still living. In
February 1901 they moved to Payette, Idaho, where they resided on a fruit farm
until two years ago when she and her husband retired and moved to their new
home at Payette.
Mrs. Mordhorst is survived by her husband and nine children: Rosetta, Mabel, Rumilda,
Edward, Lee, Arnold, Ira, LaVern and Elmer, all of which are married with the exception of Ira. There are also
ten grandchildren. She leaves her aged mother, Mrs. Anna Bohling,
one sister, Mrs. John Rix and two brothers, William of Arcadia and Hans of
Austin, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her father, two sons, Alfred
who died in active service in the World War I and George who died in 1920. Two
sisters and one brother died in infancy.
