ANNIE SOPHIE MILLER

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla for Annie S. Miller, 90, who died Monday, July 11, 1988, at the Manilla Manor in Manilla.

The Rev. Glenn Wiechmann will officiate the services. Burial will be at Nishnabotna Cemetery in Manilla.

Casket bearers will be her grandchildren Marty Miller, Kimberly White, Steve Steckelberg, Dirk Miller, Larry Steckelberg, and Connie McKown. Honorary casket bearer will be her granddaughter Becky Buell.

Anna Sophie was born August 20, 1897, near Irwin, she was a daughter of Max and Anna (Lamaack) Steckelberg. She attended country schools in the Irwin and Manilla area.

On March 1, 1922, she was married to Otto J.C.F. Miller. They farmed in East Boyer Township in Crawford County for many years.

Mr. Miller died on March 4, 1971. Mrs. Miller moved to Manilla that same year. In the fall of 1979, she moved to the Manilla Manor Nursing Home.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla and the Priscilla Guild. She was the last remaining charter member of the SNAP Club, having been a member for 55 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was a Gold Star Mother.

Mrs. Miller is survived by her daughter, Viola Steckelberg, of Denison; her son, LeRoy Miller and his wife, Sandy, of Harlan; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters; Minnie Hollander of Early; and Florence Lapel of Manning; and a brother, John Steckelberg of Denison.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a son, Melvin, during World War II; a granddaughter, Jessica Steckelberg; a sister, Ida Hilbert; and six brothers: George, Henry, Charlie, Maxie, Frankie, and Walter Steckelberg.
