She was born July 16, 1905, in Grundy Center, Iowa, the daughter of Menko and Jennie (Ottens) Grimmius.
She attended elementary school in rural Grundy Center. Before her marriage, she was employed for many years as an instructor in a knitting mill in Charles City, Iowa.
She married Walter B. McCuen in 1931 in Grundy Center.
They moved to Eau Claire, and in 1931 they moved to Osseo, where she made her home until entering the Osseo Area Nursing Home in October 1981. She was an active member of Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid of the church, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was an avid sports fan.
Survivors include a son, Gary (Carol) McCuen of Hudson, a step-son, Carl (Jean) McCuen of Eau Claire; two sisters, Jennie Sonntag of Grundy Center, Iowa; Marie (Walter) Folkerts of Reinbeck, Iowa; two granddaughters, Melinda and Marnie McCuen, both of Hudson; a step-granddaughter, Cathy McCuen; and a step great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1949; a step-son, Walter Rea McCuen, who died in the service during World War II; four brothers, Ben, Otto, Harm, and Wilbur; and three sisters, Maria Grimmius, Elizabeth Drenth, and Grace Miller.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. David Ernat officiating.
Interment will be in Osseo Cemetery.
Friends may call an hour before services Monday at the church.
