ANNA MAHNKE
Anna Mahnke was born on December 15, 1904, in Carroll County, Iowa, to Fred and Amanda (Asmus) Gruhn. She was baptized at the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa. She grew up and attended school in the Botna, Iowa area.

On November 26, 1930, she was united in marriage to Alfred J. Mahnke at Manning, Iowa. To this union one son, Duane, was born. She enjoyed sewing and she greatly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters: Lena, Freda, and Alma, and two brothers: Ed and Henry.

She is survived by one son Duane Mahnke and his wife Joan from Albert City, Iowa, four grandchildren: Donna and Roger Dorio from Port St. Lucie, Florida; Debbie and Dick Sheets from Laurens, Iowa; Cindy and Scott Vander Leest of Albert City; and Lee and Sondra Mahnke from Cripple Creek, Colorado, six great-grandchildren: Jamie Sheets from Columbia, Missouri; Mitchell Sheets from Laurens, Iowa; Ryan, Allison and Ashley Vander Leest from Albert City; and Danielle Scott from Cripple Creek, Colorado, three sisters: Ella Steen from Manning, Iowa; Ida and Gilmore Anthony from Manning, Iowa; and Lenus and Helen Anderson from Denison, Iowa; two sisters-in-law: Lorraine Gruhn and Hazel Gruhn, and many nieces and nephews.
