Ann Marie (Bruhn) Stillman was born March 8, 1927 in Carroll County, Iowa. She and her twin brother were the second and third children born to William and Wilhelmina (Hansen) Bruhn. Ann received her education in the Audubon County School System. Following her education, Ann worked several years for Jensen Interiors before beginning a career with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company based out of Estherville.

Ann met Philip at a dance and they were married on November 24, 1962 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Estherville. They settled on the farm east of Emmetsburg where they raised their four children.

Ann was an avid gardener and always had a very large vegetable garden. She canned many vegetables and froze sweet corn every year. She also loved her flower gardens. She had many flower beds made around the farm which she cared for until she moved to Emerald Oaks in 2019.

Ann was an accomplished seamstress. She made clothes for herself and for her nieces and nephews before she had children of her own. Many of the family Christmas cards had a picture of the three girls in matching outfits that she had made. When the kids were old enough to go to school, she worked at Wady's Tailoring Shop doing alterations. Ann also enjoyed cross stitch, crochet, and made several quilts.

Ann was an active volunteer in the community. She was a 4-H leader for many years where she was able to share her many talents. She was a member of the Palo Alto County Hospital Auxiliary, serving as President, and helped with the annual candy sale. She and Phil were very active in Farm Bureau where she served as President and as membership director which allowed them to take several trips. Ann also volunteered at the Nature Center where she could share her love of flowers and birds.

Ann's greatest love was her family and spending time with each of them. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She shared her love of baking and gardening with them and enjoyed attending their activities and cheering them on. She stressed to all of them the importance of education.

Ann passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022, at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg, Iowa at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Philip; her daughter, Marsha Van Genderen; and siblings, George Bruhn, Herbert Bruhn, Edna Nissen, and Louise Philpott.

She is survived by her daughters, Maria (Troy) Hertel of Wichita, Kansas, Michelle (Shayne) Kogel of Emmetsburg, Iowa; her son, Mark Stillman of Emmetsburg, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Joshua (Andrea), Natalie (Jordan), Megan, Kinsey, Kyle, Kourtney, and Kysen; brother, William "Bill" (Louise) Bruhn of Manning, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and friends.
