Funeral services for Ann Popp were held Saturday, May 23, 1987, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Reverend Charles Haake officiated the service with Fern Jensen as organist. Interment was in Manning City Cemetery with Amos Lohmeier, Curt Stribe, Ronny Frahm, Marvin Gaer, Milford Wiese, and Ron Rydberg as casketbearers. Honorary casketbearers were Lewis Hagedorn, Keith Popp, Mark Popp, and Albert Musfeldt.
Ann, daughter of Henry and Emma (Hagge) Frahm, was born October 2, 1903, in Washington Township, Carroll County, Iowa. She was baptized on October 24, 1904. Ann attended schools near her home.
On January 27, 1926, Ann was united in marriage with Henry Popp. Two sons, Robert and Richard, were born to this union. For a number of years they farmed just south of Arcadia and later lived in Arcadia. In 1943 they moved to Manning and made their home at 66 Ann Street. Ann was a housewife and was employed at Manning General Hospital for many years. Henry died on June 30, 1979. Ann continued to make her home in Manning. She was hospitalized briefly following a stroke and died at Manning General Hospital, Manning, Iowa, early Wednesday morning, May 20, 1987, at the age of 83 years, 7 months, and 18 days.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; by two brothers, George Frahm and Herbert Frahm; and by a grandson, Greg Popp in 1984.
Ann is survived by her sons, Robert and his wife, Delores, of Marshalltown, and Richard and his wife, Marilyn, of Tampa, Florida; by four grandchildren: Keith Popp, Michelle Shimberg, Mark Popp, and Kristin Popp; by her granddaughter-in-law, Greg's wife, Cindy Popp; by many nieces and nephews, including her only nephew on the Frahm side of her family, Ronny Frahm of Manning. Ann is also survived by cousins, other relatives and friends.
Ann was a member of the Lutheran Church in Arcadia and later in Manning. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith as an adult on September 4, 1927, at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia. She was active in the VFW Auxiliary in Manning and recently became a lifetime member.
