Mrs. Amanda Dorothea Wenzel, 77, died Wednesday night, May 23, 1962, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Howard Saunders, after a long illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ohde Funeral Home here, with burial in the Manning Cemetery. Nephews will be pallbearers. The Rev. R.W. Natzke, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Manilla, will officiate, with burial in Manning Cemetery.
Mrs. Wenzel was born January 29, 1885, south of Aspinwall in Iowa Township, a daughter of Henry and Siena (Jensen) Kai.
She married Weigfried Wenzel on March 8, 1905, at the home of her parents, with Pastor Saeger of the Manilla Lutheran Church officiating. After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Wenzel lived on a farm six miles north of Manila.
Following his death on May 17, 1943. Mrs. Wenzel lived with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Saunders, until 1950, and then for a time with a son, Henry Wenzel, at Vail. Since becoming ill, she had lived at the Saunders home west of Manning.
Surviving are her two children, Mrs. Saunders (Emma), and Henry Wenzel; three grandchildren, Betty, Peggy and Terry Saunders; and two sisters, Mrs. Ida Pfoltner, Manning, and Mrs. Annie Schacht, Aspinwall.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters: Mrs. Amelia Walter, Mrs. Hattie Hageman, Mrs. Lizzie Lamaack and Mrs. Emma Thomssen.
