Elsie Amanda, daughter of Henry and Anna (Ewoldt) Mundt, was born July 29, 1894, on a farm in Washington Township, Carroll County, Iowa. She attended rural schools and after moving with her parents into Manning she finished her schooling in the Manning school system. On February 12, 1913, Amanda was united in marriage with Henry Bohnsack. They lived on a farm near Manning. Her husband died on February 10, 1914, as the result of a farm accident.
On April 10, 1919, Amanda was united in marriage with Edward Erickson. They made their home in Harlan, Iowa. He died on January 31, 1920. Amanda returned to Manning where she worked for the Manning Telephone Company as a switchboard operator for ten years.
On June 12, 1932, Amanda married Albert Puck at Zion Lutheran Church. She was a homemaker and an active member of the church choir for over 40 years and was a Sunday School teacher for 20 years. Albert died on August 17, 1978.
Amanda remained in their home until February 11, 1991, when, due to failing health, she became a resident of the Manning Plaza Nursing Home. She died there on Thursday, October 6, 1994, at the age of 100 years, 2 months, and 7 days.
Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; five half-brothers: Gustav Mundt, Ferdinand Mundt, Herman Mundt, Claudius Mundt, and John Mundt; and a half-sister, Augusta Bruns.
Survivors include her son, Willis Puck and his wife, Lavon, of Manning; three grandchildren: Warren Puck and his wife, Sue, of Manning; Ken Puck and his wife, Joelle, of Manning; and Peggy and her husband, Frank Osdoba, of Spirit Lake; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
