Mrs. Amanda Piper, 58, of Westside, widow of Carl C. Piper, died in St. Anthony Hospital, Carroll, Friday noon, October 28, 1955. She had been hospitalized only since Thursday noon, but had been ill for a long time.
Funeral services will be held in the Ohde Funeral Home, Manning, at 2 p.m. Monday with Dr. F.E. Hamlin, minister of the Presbyterian Church, officiating. The Presbyterian quartet will sing. Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery.
Mrs. Piper, daughter of John and Mary (Botfuhr) Hell, was born in Audubon County, October 10, 1897. She was married on September 22, 1920, to Mr. Piper who died in 1952. The couple had lived, since their marriage, on a farm six miles north of Manning.
Mrs. Piper is survived by one son, Norman, who lives on the home farm; four sisters: Mrs. John (Minnie) Musfeldt, Manning; Mrs. R.A. (Emma) Waddell, Andrew; Mrs. Josephine Hargens, Manning; and Mr. Eddie (Annie) Hinze, Ulmer; and two brothers: Charles of Flandreau, South Dakota, and Frank of Manning.
Preceding her in death besides her husband were her parents, one sister and four brothers.
