Rites Held Today For Mrs. Pickett
Manning Woman Dies At Home Of Daughter In Nebraska
Funeral services for Mrs. Elmer A. Pickett of Manning, who passed away Monday night, October 25, 1936, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clint Russell, at Fairbury, Nebraska, were held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Presbyterian Church in Rockwell City. She is buried with her husband in Rosehill Cemetery, Rockwell City, Iowa.
Amanda M. (Riggs) Pickett, a resident of Manning and vicinity for 70 years, born October 1953, to Isam and Mary Polly (Woods) Pickett, has made her home with her daughter at Fairbury for the last year. She passed away at the age of 83.
Fifty years of her life were spent in the Manning vicinity, and 20 years in the town of Manning.
Her husband, who passed away February 10, 1933, was Manning's last Civil War Veteran.
Surviving children are two sons and four daughters: Marion Pickett, Thomas, Oklahoma; Glen Pickett, Waterloo, Iowa; Mrs. Eva Justus, Jefferson City, Missouri; Mrs. Albert Henninger (Ida), of Texas; Mrs. Clint Russell (Olive), Fairbury, Nebraska; and Mrs. Loren L. Hockett (Bertha) Manning, Iowa.
A daughter, Yetta A. Pickett 1881 - 1906, preceded her in death.
