Celebration of Life Wednesday, June 03, 2015 10:00 AM Wellshire Presbyterian Church 2999 South Colorado Boulevard Denver, Colorado

Alys Irene (Thompson) McMunn was born May 23, 1923, on a farm in Manning, Iowa, where she grew up with two older sisters, Virginia and Joyce; and a younger brother, Merlene; children of Merlene & Laura Thompson. The Thompson siblings attended Jefferson No. 1 country school in Crawford County. Alys graduated with the Manning High School class of 1944 They would still get together and reminisce about living on the farm.

She was a first grade teacher in Botna, Iowa, where she would meet her love of 65 years, Charles McMunn. Always a farm girl at heart, she thrived when they planted their roots in Denver, Colorado, in 1957, where they raised their family, enjoyed the Rocky Mountains, and attended music and art festivals. She loved her clubs; just to name a few, The Geophysical Wives, Pinehurst Country Club, and The Red Hatters. She loved to volunteer at The Denver Art Museum, The International Golf Tournament, The Arthritis Craft Shop, and many other places in Colorado.

She cherished her family; son, Mark and his wife, Debbie; and daughter, Lisa, and her husband Matt. She loved her grandchildren: Matt, Nick, Fallon, and Madison; and so enjoyed meeting and loving her great grandchildren: Teagan, Taiton, and Libby. She also has been an adoptive mom, grandma, and great-grandma to so many.

If there was a wedding, birthday, picnic, birth...you name it, she was there. She loved to party and be around people. She had a sense of adventure and was always ready for a journey, although she has journeyed on from this earth. She will be missed dearly, but will be remembered for teaching us about all the beautiful things one's life can bring and the beauty that surrounds us.
