Alyce Thomas
Private graveside services for Alyce W. “Blondie” Thomas of Norfolk will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery on Friday under direction of Johnson-Stonacek Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Christopher Asbury will officiate.

She died Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at Faith Regional Health Services.

She was born August 31, 1914, at Omaha, the daughter of John and Bertha (Schroeder) Ehrichs. She attended Christ Lutheran Parochial in Norfolk, graduated from Norfolk High School in 1932 and graduated from Norfolk Business College in Norfolk.

Alyce married George Thomas on January 15, 1955, at Papillion. She worked as a registered practical nurse and worked as a nursing supervisor at Earl’s Rest Home in Omaha and later as an insulin therapist at the Norfolk State Hospital. She later was a businesswoman and owned and operated the Mint Bar in Norfolk for eight years and a bar in Madison.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Norfolk, Norfolk VFW Post 1644 Auxiliary and American Legion Post 16 Auxiliary, and Independent Order of Foresters.

Alyce is survived by a daughter, Judith and Gerald Schneider of Sioux City, Iowa; one sister, Melinda Anderson of Norfolk; special friends Shari, Harold, Roy, and Miranda Neumann of Norfolk.

Alyce was preceded in death by parents and husband George.
