Alvina was born November 10, 1894, on a farm in Crawford County, Iowa, to Marx and Christina (Vehrs) Schrum. She received her education in rural Crawford County schools. She worked at home until her marriage to Louis Schroeder February 11, 1914, at Denison, Iowa. In the spring of 1914 they moved to a farm in Grovena Township, Moody County. In 1919 they moved into Egan where she made her home until 1977 when she moved to Flandreau. Since January1984, she has been a resident of Riverview Manor Nursing Home. She was a charter member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod.

She is survived by one son, Virtus, Flandreau; two daughters, Eunice, Mrs. Fritz Petersen, Flandreau and Stella Kroshus, Flandreau; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband (February 16, 1953), one grandson, one great-grandson, her parents, six brothers and five sisters.

Alvina M. Schroeder, 92, Flandreau, died Friday in Riverview Manor Nursing Home, Flandreau. Alvina was born November 10, 1894, on a farm in Crawford County, Iowa, where she attended rural schools. She married Louis Schroeder February 11, 1914, in Denison, Iowa. In 1914, they moved to a farm in Grovena Township, Moody County, where they farmed for six years. They moved to Egan in 1920, where she lived until 1977. Mr. Schroeder died in February of 1953. Mrs. Schroeder moved to Flandreau in 1977. She became a resident of the nursing home in 1984. Survivors include a son, Virtus, Flandreau; two daughters: Mrs. Fritz (Eunice) Petersen and Stella Kroshus, both of Flandreau; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Service will begin at 11 a.m. Monday in Redeemer Lutheran Church, Flandreau. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Egan. Visitation will begin at 8 tonight and continue all day Sunday in Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau.
