Funeral rites for Alvin E. Meyers, 64, will be held at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manilla Friday afternoon, April 23, with the Rev. Mr. Dragoo of the EUB Church in Defiance officiating. Burial will be in Nishnabotna Cemetery near Manilla. The body will arrive at the Ohde Funeral Home Thursday following services in the Federated Church at Carrington, North Dakota, on Wednesday. He died April 19, 1965, at Carrington.
A son of Charles and Dora Meyers, he was born in Greeley Township, Shelby County, March 22, 1901. On June 1, 1920, he was married to Edith Stevens of Defiance. They moved to Binford, North Dakota, in 1940; and he was school custodian at Carrington for the past 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Mrs. Frieda Jensen of Irwin.
He is survived by two sons, Ernest and Floyd Meyers, Council Bluffs; three daughters, Mrs. Merle (Alice) Duke, Council Bluffs; Mrs. Ray (Betty) Hankins, Peru, Nebraska; Mrs. John (Charlotte) Tracy, Omaha, Nebraska; 16 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Dora Meyers; three brothers; Hugo of Coolidge, Arizona; Carl, Coon Rapids; Lester, Harlan; three sisters: Mrs. Ralph (Hattie) Elwell, Manilla; Mrs. Ben (Leona) Rank, Harlan; and Mrs. Ray (Dorothy) Sick, Carroll.
The Irwin Masonic Lodge will be in charge of graveside services.
