Alta Christine, daughter of Kenneth and Katherine (Krogh) Justice, was born November 30, 1933, on a farm near Manilla in Crawford County, Iowa. She attended rural school and then Manilla High School, graduating in 1952. After completing her schooling, Alta worked in the drugstore and bank in Manilla.

On August 7, 1955, Alta was united in marriage with Merlin Nulle at Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla. Two sons were born to this union. They farmed south of Westside until 1967 when they moved to their present home north of Westside. Alta was a homemaker, raising their two sons and helping with the farm chores. After their sons were grown, Alta was co-owner of The Diner in Westside and continued to work there part-time after selling her interest in the business.

Alta was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia and was active in Zion Ladies Aid. Alta and Merlin enjoyed dancing and performed with the Polka Dots dance group. They also enjoyed camping. Alta was a great cook and baker and loved raising flowers.

Five years ago Alta had a bout with cancer and enjoyed remission until late in 2003. She entered St. Anthony Hospital in late April 2004 and was transferred to Immanuel Lutheran Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska, the first week in May. She died there from complications related to her cancer treatment on Thursday, May 13, 2004, at the age of 70 years, 5 months and 13 days.

Preceding Alta in death are her parents.

She is survived by her husband Merlin Nulle of Westside; two sons Kevin Nulle and wife Kim of Ida Grove and Kent Nulle and wife Jill of Breda; six grandchildren: Hope (Nulle) and husband Dan DeLuca; Matthew Nulle; Mark Nulle; Trevor Nulle and Trent and Tanner Jespersen; brother Larry Justice and wife LiIli of Manilla; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
