On June 16, 1936, Tootie was united in marriage with Paul John Vollmer in Glidden. They made their home in Manning and raised two daughters. Tootie managed the hot lunch program at the Manning schools for many years. After she and Paul retired, they remained in their home in Manning. They enjoyed short trips with friends and visiting their family.

Tootie was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Manning and the Dorcas Society. She also belonged to the American Legion and VFW Auxiliary at one time. Tootie enjoyed baking and sewing and is remembered by all the neighborhood kids for her cookies.

Her husband died in 1995 and her health had begun to fail. She was able to remain at home until 1998 when she became a resident of the Manning Plaza Nursing Home. Later she moved to Salem Lutheran Homes in Elk Horn where she died on Monday, October 7, 2002, at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 20 days.

PSALM 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still water. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me: Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anoitest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
