Alma Petersen
Alma Petersen, 101, formerly of Hardwick, Minnesota, died Tuesday, June 15, 1999, at the Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne.

Alma Pauline Petersen was born March 20, 1898, near Manning, Iowa, daughter of daughter of Johann Jacob and Catherine (Carlsen) Petersen. Her mother died when she was 10 and she began working at the age of 14.

She married George "Casey" Petersen on October 31, 1923, in Manning, Iowa. They moved to Hardwick, Minnesota, where they lived their whole married life. She lived in her own home until she was 98. In November of 1996, she suffered a stroke and moved into Sunrise Village in Jasper. In August of 1997, she broke her hip and in November of 1997 moved into the Mary Jane Brown Home. Her husband preceded her in death.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Deborah Circle and LWML.

Survivors include a son, Richard of Dell Rapids; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Services begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church in Hardwick, with burial in Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne, Minnesota.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Engebretson Funeral Home in Luverne, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
