ALMA ELISA PAHDE
Alma, daughter of Henry and Maria (Sonksen) Rohr, was born December 24, 1897, at Manning, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church and was a lifelong member. She attended Manning schools and graduated in 1916. After attending Drake University Alma taught country schools for five years. On June 23, 1921 Alma was united in marriage with Herman Pahde at Manning. She was a homemaker most of her life, however after her family was raised she was closely associated with her husband in running Pahde's, their ready to wear store. In the early 1960's they retired from the business but continued to live in Manning until 1984 when they moved to Fort Dodge to live with their daughter, Dorothy.

Alma was a charter member of the Dorcas Society and the Manning Garden Club.

On November 28, 1987 Alma and Herman returned to Manning where they became residents of the Manning Plaza Nursing Home. Alma died there on Sunday, April 24, 1988, at the age of 90 years and 4 months.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by six sisters: Freda Wenzel, Jessie Kuhl, Wilhelmine Kuhn, Elsie Rowedder, Della Rohr, and Maria Rohr, in infancy; and by one brother, Henry Rohr.

Alma is survived by her husband, Herman, of the Manning Plaza; by two daughters, Dorothy and her husband, Donald Struve, of Ft. Dodge and Donna and her husband, Robert Kohnke, of Fairfax, Virginia; by five grandchildren; by five great-grandchildren; by three sisters: Martha Fieseler, of Iowa City; Helene Schultz, of Lytton; and Lucia Lund, of Dow City; by one brother, Karl Rohr, of the Manilla Manor; by a sister-in-law, Nora Rohr Johnson, of Seattle, Washington; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends

THE TWENTY-THIRD PSALM
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still water. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me: Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anoitest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
