Alma Miller

Funeral services for Mrs. Norman W. (Bill) Miller, 53, of Newton were held from Zion Lutheran church here Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Pastor George B. Eschenbacher in charge. Burial was in the Manning Cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred Rudnick, Herman Frahm, Donald Beck, William Ahrendsen, John Kienast and Alfred Spies.

Mrs. Miller passed away Friday in Skiff Memorial hospital at Newton, following a long illness. Funeral rites were conducted Sunday afternoon in Grace Lutheran Church at Newton, the Rev. Victor Schultz officiating.

Alma Elenora Miller, nee Hansen, was born November 22, 1902, in Lincoln Township, Audubon County, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter F. Hansen. She was educated in the rural schools and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

She was married to N.W. (Bill) Miller of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, on November 26, 1924, and they farmed one year at Westside and four years at Gray. After residing in Manning six years, and in Defiance, Ohio several years, they moved to Newton 15 years ago, where he was in the construction business.

Mrs. Miller was active in church work and helped organize and build the Lutheran church at Newton.

She reached the age of 53 years, seven months, and 14 days.

Besides her husband she is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Leon (Molly) Hass of Manning, Mrs. Alfred (Lillie) Hansen of Audubon, Mrs. George (Hilda) Fischer of Manning, a brother, Hugo D. Hansen of Gray, besides many near and distant relatives and a host of friends.
