Funeral services for Alma Emma Schroeder were held Monday, September 28, 1987 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa. Pastor Robert Riggert officiated the service with Paula Weiss as organist. Interment was in Manning City Cemetery in Manning with Roland Derner, Ray Friedrichsen, Alan Lorenzen, Gary Witt, Wilmer Ranniger and Allen Rix as casket-bearers. Honorary casketbearers were Alfred Dammann and John Frees.

Alma, daughter of Charlie and Emma (Grau) Pfoltner, was born June 6, 1919 in Iowa Township, Crawford County, Iowa. As a young girl she lived north of Aspinwall and attended the Aspinwall School.

November 22, 1939, Alma was united in marriage with Lewis Schroeder. They farmed near Westside and Manning until 1975 when they retired and moved into Manning.

Lewis died May 20, 1983. Alma was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Dorcas Society for many years. She was a volunteer at the Senior Citizens Center and enjoyed being with her friends and playing cards.

Alma had been in failing health for the past year. In May of 1987 she entered the Manning Plaza Nursing Home where she died Friday, September 25, 1987, at the age of 68 years, 3 months, and 19 days.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and by a brother and sister, both in infancy.

Alma is survived by her daughter, Judy and her husband, Jim Boysen, of Holstein; by her son, Lowell Schroeder and his wife, Betty, of Manilla; by six grandchildren: Debra Boysen, Linette Boysen, Ted Boysen, Julie Schroeder, Janet Schroeder, and Jennifer Schroeder; by two sisters, Florence and her husband, Woodrow Flenker, of Maquoketa and Esther and her husband, Amos Jahn, of Adair; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
