Alice Margaret Adams was born July 10, 1923, to Edna Blanche (Snow) and Samuel Luther Adams near Irwin, Iowa in Shelby County. She attended rural school, then Irwin School, and graduated from Kirkman High School in 1940.
Alice did housework until 1943. On November 14, 1943, Alice was united in marriage to Melvin Noelck. She was baptized and joined the Lutheran Church in 1944. The couple was blessed with one son, Duane.
The family lived on various farms in Audubon County until 1958. In 1958, they moved to Pocahontas, Iowa where Alice worked as a Dairy Herd Improvement Supervisor. They moved to Ankeny in 1960 where they worked together doing milk testing at dairies in Dallas, Polk, and Marion Counties. While in Ankeny, Alice and Melvin ran a promotional booth in the Dairy Barn at the Iowa State Fair and the Waterloo Cattle Congress. In 1973, they moved to Melcher where they continued to work with dairies, visited goatherds, and Alice assisted 4-H members with Dairy projects.
Alice retired in 1990 after thirty-two years of work. She was always active in the Lutheran Church. She was a charter member at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ankeny and helped to organize the church. She was also active at St. John Lutheran Church in Melcher-Dallas and held several offices as a member of the LWML Ladies Society. Sewing quilts was something that Alice enjoyed. She was blessed to be able to combine her love of sewing with her love of the church by being a part of the Dorcas Sewing Society at St. John, where quilts were tied for world relief. Alice was also on the Melcher-Dallas Food Pantry Committee, serving as treasurer for a number of years.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin Noelck; brothers: Bill (Bernice) Adams, Charles (Verna) Adams, Victor Adams, and Leonard Adams; and sister, Ruth (Lorenz) Ahrendsen. She is survived by her son, Duane Noelck of Marshalltown, Iowa; half-sister, Doris Anglin of Houston, Texas; sisters-in-law, Harriet Gray of Sioux City, Iowa; and Nonna Adams of Santa Cruz, California; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
