Alice M. Nissen, age 78, of Carroll, Iowa, died in Carroll on July 20, 2006, following a long illness.
For 47 years Alice worked as a bookkeeper for various businesses: Manning Motors, Northern Propane Gas Co. and Agribolt Co. in Carroll. Alice was a lifelong resident of Carroll and Crawford Counties. She came to Carroll from Manning in 1962 and lived there until the time of her death. She was born on December 4, 1927 in Westside, Iowa to Walter and Maria (Will) Bornhoft. Alice was married to Roger Nissen on October 16, 1949 in Manning, Iowa. As a young girl she attended and graduated from Westside High School in 1945. She then attended American Institute of Business in Omaha, Nebraska, graduating in 1947. Alice was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, the Women's Guild of the Church, and the Royal Rovers Camping Club. She and her husband Roger spent their winters in Texas.
Surviving Alice are her husband Roger of Carroll, a daughter Rhonda Crane and her husband Marshall of Rock Valley, Iowa, a son David Nissen and his wife Caroline Tan Creti of Carroll, four grandchildren, five great-granchildren, a brother Harold Bornhoft and his wife Irma of Schleswig, Iowa, sisters-in-law Rita Saunders of Manning, Iowa, and Alice Bomhoft of Manilla, Iowa, and a step-sister Lois Hansen and husband Lyle of Denison, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Arlo Bornhoft of Manilla, Iowa, a brother-in-law Velie Saunders, and a stepsister Marge Stahl.
