He married Fern Monson on October 18, 1934. They moved to Manning in 1938 where Alfred operated a ready to wear store for 14 years at 311 Main Street. He then went on the road selling ready to wear clothing.
The family lived a short time in Ft Morgan, Colorado; in Lincoln, Nebraska, four years; in Harlan; and at present in Irwin.
He died at Myrtue Memorial Hospital on Sunday, January 16, 1977, at age 75 years, 11 months, and 6 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Susan (Mrs. Orlin) Pauley of Harlan, Linda (Mrs. Eugene) Dahl of Morton, Illinois, and four grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Anna Larson of Irwin, and other relatives.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 18, 1977, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Irwin, with Pastor Emil Martinson, officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Irwin with Richard Larson, Cyrus Monson, Eugene Monson, Marty Monson, Richard VanGundy, and Russell Thompson serving as casketbearers.
Ohde Funeral home in Manning was in charge of arrangements.
