Funeral services for the late Albert Weinbrandt were held Wednesday afternoon, April 30, 1947, at 1:30 at the Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Vehrs home and at 2 o'clock from the Trinity Lutheran church of Manilla with Rev. F.C. Israel officiating.
Albert Frederick Weinbrandt was born July 1, 1894, in Crawford County, near Denison, the son of Albertine "Born" and August Weinbrandt. In early youth he moved with his parents to various farm locations and when the family located in Denison he was employed there.
On January 11, 1933, he was united in marriage to Irene Vehrs and to their union was born one son, Lyle, who with his mother survive. With the exception of one year the family has made its home in Manilla and rural districts of the vicinity. Their last location being 5 miles north of Manilla where the deceased had equipped for doing custom farm work. He was stricken with pneumonia and complications of a heart condition which proved fatal. He passed away at his home April 26 at 11:45 p.m. Surviving are his widow and son; four sisters, Mrs. (Lena) J. Jessen, Deloit; Mrs. (Anna) Fred Plotz, Westside; Mrs. (Julia) William Plotz, Denison; Mrs. (Hilda) Herbert Baker, Kiron; three brothers, August of Deloit, Fred of El Cajun, California, and Max of Westside.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister and brother. The deceased was baptized into the Lutheran faith on November 25, 1894, by Pastor C. Runge of Hanover, Iowa, confirmed April 10, 1910, by Rev. Wendt of Manilla Trinity Lutheran Church, and remained true to that faith. Interment was in the family lot at Manning Cemetery. Many relatives and friends from a distance attended services.
Among those attending the funeral services were: Mr. and Mrs. Harold Martins, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Thompson and Mr. and Mrs. Louie Thomsen, all of Harlan; Mr. and Mrs. John Jessen, Vail; Mr. and Mrs. John Wieman of Audubon and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Christiansen of Gray.
