Alan Dean Petersen, 28, of Jefferson, was injured fatally in a motorcycle-train collision at Jefferson Saturday, October 11, 1980.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning with the Rev, Delbert Weiss, pastor of the Lutheran Church at Jefferson, officiating. Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Steven and Gary Busch, Barry Spitler, Tim Hansen, Danny Wittrock, and Craig Jensen. Joan Marie Witt will be organist.
Surviving are his wife Cindy; a daughter Danielle; his mother Mrs. Joyce Quick, Marshalltown and his father Donald Dean Petersen, Marshalltown; a sister Mrs. Mark (Cindy) McNelly, Washington state; a brother Craig L. Petersen, Marshalltown, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Witt, Audubon, and Mrs. Carl Petersen, Marshalltown.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather Carl Petersen.
Mr. Petersen was born January 19, 1952, in Greenfield, Iowa, and attended schools in Marshalltown and Gray, He graduated from Audubon High School in 1970. On July 15, 1978, he was married to Cynthia Borkowski at Audubon. For the past two years he had worked for the Ideal Livestock Equipment Company at Jefferson where he was a member of the United Auto Workers union.
