Funeral services for Mrs. Agnes (Matthiessen) Newquist-Emmitt, 75, who died
Thursday in Sacramento, California, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Livingston-Sondermann
Funeral Home, Grand Island, Nebraska. The Rev. Vernon Schroeder will officiate.
Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Island, Nebraska.
Mrs. Emmitt was born August 12, 1898, at Aspinwall, Iowa, to Mr. and Mrs. Hans Matthiessen. In 1912, the family moved to Belgrade, where she completed her schooling.
She and Hilbert Newquist were married August 29, 1917, at Belgrade. They made their home in Belgrade for several years and moved to Grand Island. Mr. Newquist died here in September 1960.
In 1967, Mrs. Emmitt moved to California, and was married to William Emmitt that year.
Mrs. Emmitt is survived by nine children. They are Mrs. Viola DeVisscher, Mrs. Mildred DeVisscher, Earl Newquist, and Mrs. Shirley Plumtree, all of Sacramento, California, Hilbert Newquist of Grand Island, Ralph, Newquist of Florida, Donald Newquist of Sulton, Washington; Carrol Newquist of Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Virginia Horst of Gretna, and 33 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, and two brothers.
