Henry enlisted at Carroll, Iowa, July 26, 1918.
He served with the Military Police of the 5th Infantry Division in France.
Private First Class Hansen was discharged July 15, 1919.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday August 10th, 1973, at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning for Henry J.M. Hansen. Rev. Joel Wright will officiate with burial in the Manning Cemetery. Military honors by American Legion of Manning.

Henry J.M. Hansen, 80, son of Jurgen and Anna (Meyer) Hansen was born on June 30, 1893, in Carroll County. He attended rural schools near his home and served his country overseas during World War I. He was married to the former Alta Wiese on January 29, 1920, and they farmed North of Manning until moving to town in 1962. Mr. Hansen was a longtime cattle feeder in this area, a past member of the American Legion Post #22 and the Rotary Club, served a director of the Home Mutual Insurance Company of Manning, and a director for 35 years of the Manning Trust and Savings Bank in Manning resigning just one year ago. He died early Tuesday morning, August 7, 1973, at Jenny Edmunds Hospital in Council Bluffs, after being taken to the hospital on Monday for a head injury sustained in a fall.

He was preceded in death by his parents, twin sons in infancy, and two brothers, John and Herbert.

Survivors include his wife Alta, one son Alvan Hansen of Manning, one daughter Mrs. Alfred (Lola) Ahrendsen of Manning, five grandchildren, one brother Hugo R.C. Hansen of Manning, and one sister Mrs. Wilhelmina Bruhn of Manning.


Henry Hansen is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
