Gus Rudnick
Gustav August Rudnick son of Otto and Dorthea Maria (Riekmann) Rudnick was born on June 2, 1898, in Audubon County. He attended Parochial school at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lincoln Township, Audubon County.
He was united in marriage with Hedwig "Heda" Wilhelmine Lauer on July 25, 1920, in Reinbeck, Iowa. They bought a farm in Audubon County and lived there for many years. Upon retirement in the early 1970s they bought a home in Manning and a second home in Phoenix, Arizona - living in Manning in the summer months and wintering in Phoenix.
Gus passed away on November 28, 1981, in Jennie Edmundson Hospital. He is buried in Greenwood Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix.
He is survived by son Reinhardt and wife Edna of Phoenix; son Norman and wife Joann of Oakland, California; daughter Marilyn Collier and husband Lanny of North Bend, Washington; son Gordon and wife Evelyn of Tonto Basin, Arizona; 10 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: August of Lake View, Oscar of Milford; 4 sisters: Elizabeth Rutz of Wisconsin, Minnie Boers of Carroll, Bertha French of Spencer, and Dorothy Rudnick of Milford; nieces and nephews.
Gus was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Reinhardt, Carl, Herbert, John, and Alfred.
