Since Mildred is not from the Manning area I don't have anything about her family but I do have some Ramsey pictures and information to show.
I only have one very grainy picture of Ralph and very little military information, which hopefully someday a relative will come forward with more information to use in the Manning Veterans book.

Mildred Ramsey

Mildred Ramsey, 107 of Carroll, died Sunday, December 17, 2023, at Regency Park Nursing Home in Carroll.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Holy Spirit Church - St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Patrick Behm. Music will be by Kathy Halbur. Lector and Eucharistic Minister will be Jane Boes. Gift Bearers will be Teresa Miller and JoAnn Gresso. Casket Bearers will be Dave Gresso, Tom Gresso, P.J. Bruegger, Mark Ramsey, Paul Ramsey, Mike Franey, and Tom Underberg. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Manilla at 1 p.m. Thursday.

Visitation will be from 5-6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. A rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. Additional visitation will be from 9:30-10:15 a.m. on Thursday at the church.

The daughter of Stephen and Emma (Schmitt) Reiff, Mildred was born on March 10, 1916, in Buck Grove, Iowa. She attended elementary school in Buck Grove and high school in Manilla. In 1934, Mildred was united in marriage to Ralph "Jake" Ramsey. They lived in Manilla until their retirement in 1976.

During World War II, Mildred worked at the telephone office in Manilla and would notify family members of the United States Military of their service. She later clerked at the Manilla Post Office for 15 years.

Upon their retirement, Mildred and Jake moved to Carroll. While living in Carroll, Mildred volunteered with Holy Spirit Quilters, St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary, New Hope Village Bargain Shoppe, and RSVP. Through her volunteer work, Mildred made many wonderful friends.

Mildred is survived by her children: JoAnn Gresso of St. Charles, Missouri; Mark (Carole) Ramsey of Iowa City; and Teresa (George) Miller of Macungie, Pennsylvania; her daughter-in-law, Jayme Ramsey of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; other extended relatives and many friends.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jake Ramsey; her son Tom Ramsey; her brothers, Werner Reiff and Walter Reiff; and her sister, Celina Negathon.

Ralph was son of Charles Hardy and Bessie (Johnson) Ramsey
He was the brother of Jack, Orren, Mayburn, Ed, Mary, Edna, Thelma, Wanita, and Denise
