I can't remember the exact details right now but we always called Emil Ress "Dusty" and for years I thought it was because he was always dusty from helping shell corn and scoop dusty grain and dirty hog and chicken buildings but when I asked Janice about 20 years ago she told me that Emil & Hugo were at a 5-Mile house dance and someone called them the "Gold Dust Twins," based on the Harvey Hindemeyer "Goldie" and Earle Tuckerman "Dusty" 1920s radio show that was sponsored by Fairbanks' Gold Dust washing powder and the rest is history.
