Notes from Ellen (Coleman) Hoffman
"All of the Clinton, Iowa, male cousins worked in the round house and had passes on the railroad and would visit Manning often.
They had two aunts in Manning area: Margaretha (Joens) Struve and Catherine "Trina" (Joens) Joens.
Trina was mother of Bill Joens, John J. Joens, Emma (Joens) Musfeldt, Elsie (Joens) Sporrer.
Elsie was the youngest child and married William Sporrer of Templeton. She was a cook in Carroll for years at the Elks Club."

"Anna was known as '"Granny Joens"' and did not have a home. She went from home to home of each child to help with children or to sit down jobs like darning socks. She also spent the summer with 2 daughters in western Iowa."
