Earliest picture I have of this intersection.
Schroeder home on the corner and across to the east is the old wooden Germania Hall that burned down in 1925.

The Claus & Clara (Ewoldt) Claussen family lived in the house just north of the home that sat where Caseys is now (2nd house north in this picture) located at Elm Street and Iowa 46 (later 141), across from the once Germania Hall that is now Adams Motor (business closed), and across from the present day Manning city park on the south side of 141.

Joachim and Wiebke Schroeder lived in this corner house after they retired from farming.

Gerhardt Voge memories September 29, 2018
Leonard Farrell's mother lived in this home after the Schroeders.
Gerhardt also noted that Elm Street was called Scheiße "Shit" Street, because on Hog Day, the farmers that came in from the west and south would drive down Elm Street from Iowa 46 with their wagons full of hogs to the various stockyards in north Manning for the railroads.
