Schroeder home on the corner and across to the east is the old wooden Germania Hall that burned
down in 1925.
Joachim and Wiebke Schroeder lived in this corner house after they retired from farming.

Gerhardt also noted that Elm Street was called Scheiße "Shit" Street, because on Hog Day, the farmers that came in from the west and south would drive
down Elm Street from Iowa 46 with their wagons full of hogs to the various stockyards in north Manning for the railroads.
