Love seeing pictures & stories on your page. Look forward to seeing more. We bought our home here in 2009. I just found out that Manning use to be a swamp land that my ancestors use to travel through. Pretty cool.

Mr. Kusel,
Thank you for the terrific web site - a great help for those of us who are "genealogically obsessed" and have ancestors from the Manning area!

Thank you for your amazing dedication. I intend to return often to your site and read as much as I can. I will get the originals of my relatives to you as quickly as I can. It is because of many like yourself that those who were once merely names become people. We are all only one generation away from being forgotten if no one should tell our story. You have provided treasures for the remainder of my life. I have two remaining Great-Aunt's born in Manning, who might be quite interested to see & hear what you have collected. I wholeheartedly thank you Mr. Kusel on behalf of Jennie Hannah Gardner Brokaw and all of her descendants.

Dear Mr. Kusel:

My name is Jeny Jones. I am a direct descendant of John Frederick Wunderlich and Flora Elizabeth Gardner Wunderlich Gray. I have long been seeking information regarding their 2nd daughter Julia. I am the Great, Great, Granddaughter of Jennie Hannah Wunderlich Brokaw. Flora lived with Jennie Hannah until her death following a stroke. She was Grandmother to seven; John, Janet, June, Jarl, Joyce, James, and Joan. My Grandmother Joan was quite close to Flora. Is there anything at all you can tell me about the Wunderlich's? I'm ever so eager to hear more.

I am a second cousin to Robert E. Bonnesen, who was killed in action on D-Day in 1944. He died 20 years before I was born and I only recently heard about the incorrect circumstances surrounding his death--that he was "killed at Pearl Harbor." I am retired Air Force, and the news made me want to find more information on him. Your website had much information that I know I'd never find otherwise. I wanted to say thank you for doing such a great job compiling and making the information available to all. I plan on visiting the National Archives to find more information and I pass that information along when/if I am able to get it. Thank you!

You continue to amaze me. Your work is fantastic. Thanks for the WWII items. Mama never ran out of sugar, but coffee, oh my. It never lasted a month.

After seeing your picture of the Royal Neighbors of America Convention May 25, 1937 in Charter Oak, Iowa, I am curious to know if my Grandmother was in it. There are a couple of ladies in the picture that look like they resemble her. She lived in Charter Oak at that time and for many years afterward and I'm almost sure that she belonged to The Royal Neighbors. Unfortunately I can't come up with a picture of her to compare. My brother might know but I can't get hold of him right now. I will keep trying and let you know. Again, Thank You for all the good work on Manning's history.

Thank you Dave for all the work you do on Manning history. Due to your website and email exchanges I have been connected to two distant Kruse cousins. We never knew each other existed. It has been wonderful to meet my new relatives and the information and picture exchanges have helped to fill in gaps in our genealogies. There is still much to learn, but that is part of the fun and challenge.
