Comments: What a wonderful job you have and
still are doing - what a treasure for many families that have come from the
Manning, Iowa area. My great grandfather was Lorenz Peter Lorenzen and love
seeing many pictures of the relatives still living in that area!! I have many
memories of going to Manning from southern Minnesota with my grandparents Thomas
and Marie Lorenzen and my parents Lorenz T. and Viola Lorenzen. Many thanks
for all of the work !!

Comments: You are so correct about why your
grandfather left Prussia. My Grandfather, Otto Rudnick, also migrated from
Prussia. His farm was just south of Trinity Lutheran in Lincoln Township. He and
his brothers were sent from Germany by their father so that they would not be in
the German army. According to my Aunt Minnie, they falsified their names to
leave Germany. They reclaimed them in the United States.

Comments: So impressed with your never ending
interest in preserving Manning's history; it's schools, churchs, students,
veterans, events and entire community. I have been visiting your site since the
wonderful coverage of my father, Wade "Bud" Mohr's WWII service. Thank you
Dave for preserving all this great information on Manning, a place I'll always
call "home"......

Comments: Mystery Family. Working on the Ewoldt
family, my great grandfather was Hans Ewoldt1844-1900 from Schleswig Holstein,
wife Mary Frick 1849-1945. Hans had a brother Henry 1841-1942, wife Dorthea
Vinke 1851. Sister Julia Ewoldt Kruse 1859, husband Joseph Kruse 1849. Many of
the children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren are unaware Hans, Henry and
Julia were siblings. Together they had 31 children some with the same frist
names. I am trying to put them all on the same tree. It all started with Claus
Ewoldt in Germany. Please contact me if you have information on Henry or Julia,
or would like the information I have so far.

Comments: My mother was Bernice Koon who worked
as a waitress for Bonita Hagedorn (owner) of the Virginia Café for a good many
years. At one time I saw a picture of my mom with several other employees of
the Virginia café and taken in the restaurant. I would love someone to find
that picture and send me a copy. I would gladly pay for a search fee. I don't
know if it was in one of the history books or where I saw it but it showed how
beautiful my mom was and an excellent waitress either late 40's or early 50's.
My brothers were Tom and Gary Koon. I graduated I 1955. Sicerely Shannon
