Dave...in this week's Monitor, Aug 28th one of the pictures of building the pool at the Rec Center pictures John Ohde and a man from Templeton, the brick layer. Bill Prebeck told me that would have been Cliff Romey, if you want to identify that.
Thanks for all you do, Karen

Hi! Been teased so much lately at work as our new name tags have our hometown on them and "Manning" is known better to most here for a football player's name than a town. SO, I HAD to show them Manning's website and am enjoying your page so much! Thanks for helping brag about the best hometown ever!

Just dropped by to see what was happening. I do not know the 1977-1978 graduates, but I know their surnames. That brought back a lot of memories. Thanks, Dave.

I am related to Ehrichs' and Tollgaards, so this site has been most helpful. I try to get as much information from my oldest relatives, but they are fading fast. I do enjoy seeing all the pictures of my relatives, and hope to add more soon.

Thank God somebody has preserved our historical roots. Found your site several years ago and has held a wealth of information from when my immigrant forebearers. Jurgen Koester > John K. > Albert K. > Dwain K. > me. I hope that others appreciate it like I have.

I had a family event in Cherkoee yesterday so visited graves along the way. Dorethea Kusel north of Denison in Morgan Cemetery. The stone was white and readable.
Hans and Caroline Friedrichsen (The in-laws of Rosa Kusel) in Lutheran cemetery just north of Ida county line and west. They have done a great job of cleaning Cemetery and putting list of grave sites.
Then went far north to near May City to Mathilda Borkowski Rudnick who died at 25 in 1894 . Her grave was marked by my husband Merle. She was the only daughter of Wilhelm and Auguste buried in Lincoln Township. I hope you are putting pictures of old stones on Iowa Gravesites.

Hello!
My family lived in Manning for several years in the early to mid 60s. My father, Merlin Kunkel, was a veterinarian who practiced out of our house on April Street. I was only 5 when we moved to Texas, but I have fond memories of my early years in Manning. I remember the children's parade, the Lutheran Church, the freezing cold pool where I learned to swim, the park, and the great neighbors on April Street. I had three older siblings (Jim, Jane, and Jean) who would remember much more than I about their time in Manning. I am currently writing a book and would love to hear from anyone that may have stories about my dad's vet practice or anything pertaining to our family. We have kept in touch with the Gib Phillips family over the years and also the Opperman triplets. I would appreciate any input....thanks, Julie

My family settled in Manning in the mid-19th century. H.D. Radeleff was my Great Grandfather, his son Charles, my Grandfather and my dad was Henry, born in Manning November 20, 1911.

There are few male Radeleff's left. I produced 2 daughters, John Radeleff, cousin, two daughters, Mark, cousin, one son and Steve, Howard Radeleff's son, a boy and a girl. And the grand kids are almost all female.

Always wanted to visit Manning, but never made it. I remember my Dad and his father and brothers talking about Manning and I remember when all the Great Uncles and my Grand dad got together they spoke nothing but German and laughed a lot.

H.D. Radeleff homesite in Springville, CA, still stands and is a registered historic home.

Best to you, Gerald Radeleff
