Sandra Jean Petersen Andresen

Sandra Jean (Petersen) Andresen, 64, of Highland Park, passed away on October 7, 2006. Sandra was born July 17, 1942, in Joliet, to Floyd E. and Lucille (Johnson) Petersen. She grew up in Wilton Center and graduated from Peotone High School in 1960, attended McKendree College in 1960-61 after which she worked as a secretary for Petersen Printing in Wilton Center, worked as a secretary for United Van Lines and Casting Engineers, and also for Faucet-Queens as Director of Export Sales, retiring after 20 years. Sandra worked hard throughout her life to juggle work, play and family. She traveled internationally for business and loved immersing herself in the people and cultures of South and Central America. Sandra and her husband Norman enjoyed traveling to Miami to see their daughter as well as tailgating for Miami Hurricanes football games. Throughout her life, Sandra found pleasure in entertaining and celebrating with good friends and family.

She was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2004. Her family was able to care for her at home until her death. Sandra is survived by her husband, Norman (whom she married September 21, 1963); two daughters, Tanya (Douglas) Wojcik of Lyons, Colorado and Tara (Kevin) Lane of Deerfield Beach, Florida; two grandsons, Jared and Colin Lane of Deerfield Beach, Florida; a sister, Marcia Lafley of Denver, Colorado; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation for Illinois was held October 10 at the Kelley & Spalding Funeral Home in Highland Park. Visitation and funeral services were held October 12 at Ohde Funeral Home. Reverend Lanette Plambeck of United Methodist Church, officiated.

Interment was at Manning Cemetery, Manning, Iowa.

Casketbearers were Andrew Ackerson, Myron Bogatzke, Merlin Joens, Leonard Koch, Fred Lea, and Douglas Wojcik.
